Get on your bike and explore Thailand’s ancient fallen civilisation of Ayutthaya
Bangkok hasn’t always been Thailand’s capital city. Hundreds of years ago, Ayutthaya, just north of Bangkok, lay claim to that title, and the huge number of historical ruins help bring this ancient civilisation back to life. Explore the city and its’ Historical Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site on a 25km guided bike trip through wats, stupas and chedis, protected by the city’s crumbling walls. This gentle trip will take you to the city’s most incredible and historical sites, including the famous Wat Phra Mahatat, which is known for its Buddha head that’s been engulfed by tree roots, the Old Royal Palace and riding along the Chao Phraya River and through the area’s pretty surrounding countryside.
