Bangkok's Hidden Treasures

Code : PRA001
Bangkok is definitely a jewel of Thailand, but there are still many hidden gems in this city waiting to be discovered. Let us take you by bike and boat to find these treasures scattered along the river and network of canals which has been to as referred. "Venice of the East"

Bangkok's Hidden Treasures!

We meet in Chinatown to collect our bicycles and begin our cycling through back alleyways of an area busy with wholesalers selling all kinds of wares. We arrive at the Chao Phraya River and hop on a ferry to cross to Thonburi, which for a brief period was the capital of Siam. Here we visit one of the first Chinese settlements to Thailand as we cycle amongst temples, markets and old warehouses filled with scents of herbs and traded goods. Explore many of Thonburi's landmarks as we make our way to one of our hidden treasures, Klong Bang Luang, a two-century-old wooden house that now is home to a community of artists. After our visit we explore the Venice of the East by longtail boat to see more gems on the banks of this impressive canal network. We return to our starting point in Chinatown at about 17:30.

Details

We cycle about 13 kilometres in total, along very minor roads, pathways, though alleys and temples. There are no hills. Some of the canal paths are elevated and narrow and we advise caution on these sections, but otherwise it is a leisurely, enjoyable and pleasant, easy ride.
